This elegant Kyo-yaki chawan (matcha bowl) has a fun spin on the traditional mishima style of slip inlay. Atop its iron-rich red clay, this chawan has a soft purple glaze, decorated with three tiers of mishima styles on the inside: stamped flowers (ๅฐ่ฑ – inka) at the bottom, rope curtain (ๆฆๆ –ย koymi-de) in the middle, and a combination of stamped flowers and incised and painted floral motifs along the top. The outside of the bowl is accented with brush strokes of white slip (ๅทๆฏ็ฎ – hakeme).ย These white slip decorations contrast harmoniously with the rich and mottled purple glaze.
